Semester 1: Introduction to Creative Computing

Introduction to creative computing is our first semester course using the Raspberry PI. It takes students on a journey of discovery of sensors and programming. It starts with the history of computers and introduces fundimental ideas like boolean logic and how computers make decisions. We introduce Scratch, the graphical drag-and-drop programming language and Python to students.

Each session is split into 30 mins of theory and 30 mins practical where students complete electronic circuits and see their creations come to life.

This 10 week course operates after school and at weekends, and continues into our second semester term of The Internet of Things. (Suitable for School Years 4 - 6)

Semester 2: The Internet of Things

It is estimated that by 2020 there will be more than 200 billion devices connected to the internet. This Semester introduces fundimental internet concepts, and looks at the everyday sensors around us used to feed this incredible growth. We look at different sorting techniques and explore algorithms which are used to predict behaviour. Semester two introduces charting tools and more advanced iteration techniques in Python. (Suitable for School Years 4-6).
